Homemade Lip Balm

Lip balm is another easy craft that's fun for adults, teenagers and children with the help of an adult. On PinSupplies.com you can get all of the ingredients to make these lip balms. For about $25 you can make 200 lip balms or you can make a few lip balms and use the other ingredients to make your own homemade lotion bars or vicks shower bars. Those recipe will be listed soon but they are just as easy as the lip balm.

Start by collecting your supplies:

White Beeswax Pellets
Coconut Oil
Sweet Almond Oil
Refined Shea Butter
Lipstick for coloring
Eyeshadow shimmer powder for shimmering gloss
Essential oils or flavor oils like Peppermint, Orange, Strawberry or any type you prefer.
A saucepan
Tin can or glass jar
Stirring stick

White Beeswax Pellets are easier to work with than having to grate a bar of wax.
A little eyeshadow shimmer creates a nice shimmery gloss.

Lipstick adds a slight color. If you want to see the color add half a stick of lipstick, but if you just want to tint the gloss add a 1/4 stick.
Repurpose a tin can for this project so that you don't ruin your pans or jars. The wax is not easy to clean up.

A few ideas for lip balm containers all of them can be found at PinSupplies.com.

Place all of the ingredients in the can except for the essential oils and flavor oils. You will add those at the last minute.

Place the can inside a saucepan with a little water in it. Be careful if there is too much water the can will get tipsy. Turn the burner on Med-low heat. Use a disposable stick to stir the mixture until everything is melted. This can take about 5 minutes. The beeswax takes a little longer then the other ingredients to melt. Immediately remove from heat and add the essential oils. Pour into your containers and let them harden at room temperature or place them in the fridge for quicker set-up.

There are many different ingredients you can use to make lip balms. I experimented with a few different recipes on Pinterest and found this one to work the best. It gives a nice smooth, moisturizing feel to my lips and lasted for a long time.

Ingredients:
1 Tb white beeswax pellets
1 Tb coconut oil
1 Tb Shea Butter
1.5 tsp sweet almond oil
lipstick pieces
shimmer powder
essential or flavor oils (I used sweet orange and it gave it a very subtle sweet fragrance)

The second recipe came out as a harder lip balm and wasn't as glossy on the lips.
2 Tb white beeswax pellets
2 Tb coconut oil
2 tsp sweet almond oil
lipstick pieces
shimmer powder
essential or flavor oils

You could experiment with these two recipes to find the right hardness and gloss for yourself. I personally recommend the Shea butter recipe because it offers more moisture.
